Complete information about Switzerland road tolls
In Switzerland, authorities levy a federal tax called LSVA (Performance-Related Heavy Vehicle Fee) on vehicles with a total weight over 3.5 tons. This fee is calculated based on the maximum authorized weight of the vehicle or vehicle combination, the distance traveled in kilometers and the toll rate, which varies by the vehicle's EURO class. There are three LSVA fee categories.
There is also another fee called PSVA (Flat-Rate Heavy Vehicle Fee), which applies to passenger transport vehicles with a total weight over 3.5 tons. It's important to note that the LSVA charging method will be suspended until the end of 2024 and fully replaced by the EETS system (installation of an on-board unit).
VAT paid on road tolls in Switzerland cannot be recovered.
