Montenegro Vignette 2026 – Everything You Need to Know…

Montenegro vignette: tunnel tolls and road rates

In short: Montenegro has no vignette: in 2026 you only pay specific tolls at the Sozina Tunnel and on the A1 motorway’s Smokovac – Mateševo section, the only tolled motorway section in the country. A passenger car pays 2.50 euros at the tunnel and 3.50 euros on the motorway (full route), while heavy combinations with 4 or more axles pay 18 euros and 17 euros, respectively. Payment is made in euros — in cash, by card or with the TAG/ENP electronic device, which gives you a 10% discount on every passage.

Montenegro is a highly sought-after destination for tourists. Offering both the beauty of the mountains and the wonder of the blue sea, we know how tempted you are to discover this country in your own car. Whether you are a tourist or a haulier traveling on business, you need to find out about the Montenegro vignette and which road tolls you have to pay.

Montenegro Road Tolls in 2026: What Has Changed

Even in 2026, Montenegro has not introduced an actual vignette: you still pay only specific tolls at the Sozina Tunnel and on the A1 motorway’s Smokovac – Mateševo section. The official Monteput rates have remained stable: 2.50 euros (Sozina) and 3.50 euros (A1, full route) for passenger cars, and for heavy combinations with 4 or more axles, 18 euros at the tunnel and 17 euros on the motorway.

The important news for hauliers is the regional platform Toll4All, active since 2024: the TAG/ENP device purchased in Montenegro can be registered on toll4all.com and also used to pay road tolls in Serbia, with a 6% discount on Putevi Srbije rates, with amounts charged automatically to the linked card. The platform is set to expand to Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia. In Montenegro, electronic payment with the TAG gives you a 10% discount on every passage, with a minimum account top-up of 20 euros.

In the long run, the tolled network will expand: in June 2026, construction officially began on the Mateševo – Andrijevica section (23 km) of the Bar – Boljare motorway, with completion expected in about 5 years. Until then, Smokovac – Mateševo remains the only tolled motorway section in Montenegro.

One important thing to know is that Montenegro does not have a very large motorway network, so the roads you travel will be national and European roads.

Pay extra attention to speed limits, because Montenegro’s speed limits are slightly lower than in Romania.

However, you will need to pay certain Montenegro road tolls for one motorway and one tunnel, and in this article we will present everything you need to know about the Montenegro vignette.

Montenegro vignette payment

The Montenegro vignette is paid for the section of the A1 motorway (Bar – Boljare) that connects Smokovac and Mateševo, which is about 41 km long and was opened in July 2022. Tolls are charged by section, at the Pelev Brijeg, Veruša and Mateševo exit points.

This motorway is intended to connect Montenegro with the Serbian border, for faster access.

So, if you find yourself in this area, you should know that it is the only motorway in Montenegro and the only one that requires the Montenegro vignette.
