Luxembourg Vignette 2026 – Everything You Need to Know…

Luxembourg vignette for trucks: Eurovignette rates and payment rules

In short: For cars, roads and highways in Luxembourg remain free in 2026 — you don't need a vignette. Trucks of at least 12 tons, however, must purchase the Eurovignette, currently valid only in Luxembourg and Sweden, with rates calculated based on the number of axles, the validity period, the EURO class and the CO2 emission class: from 2 euros for a one-day vignette up to 2,404 euros for an annual one. It can be bought online at eurovignettes.eu or in person at customs points, payment is made in euros, and it cannot be purchased retroactively.

If Luxembourg is your destination or you are transiting the country, you need to know how to purchase the Luxembourg vignette.

Road tolls in Luxembourg in 2026: what has changed

Nothing has changed for cars: roads and highways in Luxembourg remain free in 2026, with no vignette and no other road tolls.

For trucks of at least 12 tons, however, the Eurovignette system has shrunk significantly: Denmark left the system on January 1, 2025, and the Netherlands on July 1, 2026, when it introduced its own per-kilometer truck charge (vrachtwagenheffing). As a result, the Eurovignette currently covers only two countries: Luxembourg and Sweden.

Another important change is the introduction, as of March 25, 2025, of CO2 emission classes (from 1 to 5) in rate calculations. Two EURO 6 trucks can now pay different prices depending on their CO2 class, and zero-emission vehicles get the lowest rates. So check your vehicle's CO2 class before buying the Eurovignette on eurovignettes.eu.

If you choose to visit this country in your own car, we have good news for you: the Luxembourg vignette is free, and you don't need one to drive on Luxembourg's roads.

However, if you carry out a transport job in Luxembourg or transit the country with a truck of at least 12 tons, you will need to purchase the Luxembourg vignette.

In this article we'll cover everything you need to know about the Luxembourg vignette.

Free Luxembourg vignette for cars

Similar to the system in Netherlands, Luxembourg does not require a Luxembourg vignette for small cars, so you can drive on Luxembourg's roads and highways free of charge.

At the same time, there are no other Luxembourg road tolls either.

This is considered a remarkable advantage that saves you extra costs and the hassle of buying vignettes online or in person.

Paid Luxembourg vignette for trucks

If you drive heavy vehicles of 12 tons or more, you are required to purchase the Luxembourg vignette to drive on Luxembourg's roads and highways.

This charge imposed by Luxembourg is called the Eurovignette and can be purchased online. Note: since July 1, 2026, after the Netherlands left the system, the Eurovignette is valid only in Luxembourg and Sweden (Denmark had already left the system on January 1, 2025).

Passenger transport vehicles in the 12-ton weight class, namely coaches and buses, are exempt from the Luxembourg vignette.

In the rest of this article, you'll find everything you need to know about how to purchase the Luxembourg vignette.

How much does the Luxembourg vignette cost for a truck?

The price of the Luxembourg vignette varies based on:

  • The number of axles;
  • The validity period;
  • The EURO emission class;
  • The CO2 emission class (from 1 to 5), introduced in the Eurovignette system on March 25, 2025.

The highest price for the monthly vignette applies to EURO 0 vehicles (CO2 class 1) with 4 or more axles: 240 euros per month. For vehicles with 1-3 axles, the monthly vignette costs between 19 and 143 euros, depending on the emission class.

Prices for one-year validity range from 191 to 1,434 euros for vehicles with 1-3 axles and from 319 to 2,404 euros for those with 4 or more axles. The lowest rates are reserved for zero-emission vehicles (CO2 class 5), and the highest for EURO 0 vehicles.

The one-day vignette no longer has a single price: it costs between 2 and 14 euros for vehicles with 1-3 axles and between 4 and 24 euros for those with 4 or more axles, depending on the emission class. There are also weekly vignettes, priced between 7 and 84 euros.

Attention! Pay attention to the period for which you buy the Eurovignette if you have a round trip through Luxembourg.

Luxembourg vignette validity

Another advantage of the Luxembourg vignette is that it is electronic, so you don't have to stick anything on the windshield.

Once purchased, your vehicle will be registered in an electronic database for the entire period you bought it for.

The Luxembourg vignette can be purchased for a validity of at most one year and at least one day. You can buy it any time before you set off.

Attention! The Luxembourg vignette cannot be purchased retroactively.

  • the country where your vehicle is registered;

  • number of axles;
  • the vehicle's emission class.

When choosing the vignette's validity period, keep in mind that you can choose from a minimum of one day to a maximum of one year.

One thing to watch for is receiving the payment confirmation for the Luxembourg vignette, to make sure the payment went through and you won't have any problems.

Luxembourg vignette bought at customs

If you didn't have time to buy the Luxembourg vignette online or prefer to pay for it in person, you can do so when entering the country, at the points located at customs.

This is also an advantage if you don't have enough time to go online and buy it or weren't informed in advance about the types of tolls charged in Luxembourg.
