Moldova Vignette 2026 – Everything You Need to Know…

Although it's a small country, Moldova takes its vignette, or road toll, seriously.

The Moldova vignette in 2026: what has changed

Good news for drivers and hauliers: vignette rates remained unchanged in 2026. They are set in euros in the Tax Code of the Republic of Moldova (Title IX, Annexes 2 and 2¹) and paid in Moldovan lei at the National Bank of Moldova exchange rate.

And for long-haul routes heading east, the conditions are detailed in the guide to road tolls in Russia.

For transports continuing northeast, the rules differ considerably — see the guide to the vignette in Ukraine.

A few administrative things have changed, however. The e-Vinieta system is no longer managed by the state enterprise “State Road Administration” (ASD), but by the joint-stock company “National Road Administration” (AND), the company that resulted from the reorganization of ASD and its merger with the regional road maintenance enterprises. The official purchase platform remains evinieta.gov.md, with payment through the government service MPay.

The vignette is exclusively electronic: you don't get a windshield sticker, and checks are based on the license plate number. The periods available for passenger cars are 7, 15, 30, 90 and 180 days, while buses and trucks also have 1-day and 12-month options. Motorcycles are not among the vehicle categories that require a vignette.

If you plan to visit or at least pass through the country in the near future, keep in mind that you will very likely need a vignette. This applies both to individuals traveling in their personal cars and to hauliers.

Let's find out more about what the MD vignette involves and where you can buy it!

At the end of the article, we'll also discuss what happens if you don't have one… (We don't recommend taking the risk!)

How do I check whether I need a Moldova vignette?

The chances that you won't need a vignette in Moldova are extremely slim, practically nonexistent.

Why?

Because the toll is paid by foreign-registered vehicles for all public roads in the Republic of Moldova.

Where can I buy the Moldova vignette in person?

You can buy the vignette at a Moldova Agroindbank (MAIB) branch.

Don't worry too much, because you can easily find a location at the border and also later, inside the country. The list of branches is here ; look for the one nearest you. You can also buy it at any QIWI, MMPS, Runpay, Paynet and Bpay payment terminal, available at most border crossings, at PECO gas stations or in shopping centers.

The vignette is valid from 00:00 on the requested day or, if you choose to have it valid from the day of purchase, from the time the confirmation is issued. It expires at 24:00 on the last day of validity.

For the Moldova vignette, you only need the following information:

  • the vehicle's license plate number;
  • the driver's name;
  • personal identification number (CNP) or, for foreign citizens, passport number and series
  • the country where the vehicle is registered;
  • the vehicle type;
  • the period you want the vignette for;
  • the equivalent of the Moldova road toll in Moldovan lei.

You must keep the payment receipt for the entire duration of your stay in Moldova so you can present it to the authorities carrying out checks.

However, keep in mind that the bank or payment terminal operator may charge an additional fee, depending on the channel you choose. Check the amount before paying.

Can I buy the Moldova vignette online?

Moldova Vignette 2026

Yes! Our advice is to go with this option, because it's not only faster but, as you saw above, it can also be cheaper.

The joint-stock company “National Road Administration” (formerly the state enterprise “State Road Administration”) lets you buy the Moldova vignette online, on the e-Vinieta, with payment through the government service MPay.

Simply follow the steps below.

Fill in/select:

  • the vehicle type;
  • the date from which you want the MD vignette bought online to become active;
  • its validity period;
  • the country where the vehicle is registered;
  • the vehicle's license plate number;
  • the driver's name;
  • personal identification number (CNP) or, for foreign citizens, passport number and series;
  • your e-mail address, where you'll receive the payment record.

You need to confirm the amount displayed, i.e., the vignette price converted from euros to Moldovan lei at the National Bank of Moldova exchange rate.

You have 4 ways to pay for the MD vignette online. The most convenient is to choose a bank card (MasterCard or Visa) if you're not yet in the country.

You can also pay in cash for a vignette ordered online if you're already in Moldova. This means you'll print the payment order and go look for a QIWI, MMPS, Runpay, Paynet or Bpay terminal to complete the transaction.

The “Check invoice” (“Verifică nota”) option on https://mpay.gov.md/ shows you the validity of your Moldova road toll and lets you download the PDF version of the vignette. All you have to do then is print the proof of payment and you're on your way.
